Come Down From Your Throne, T.V. Watcher
At 7 o'clock on Monday nights my entire residence hall seems to freak out. Forget that huge exam that's at 8 A.M. tomorrow or that email you need to send to a professor... all minds are tuned to channel 8. Gossip Girl is on. I don't watch T.V. I never have been into it and don't think that I ever will be. I must just not understand the thrill that some individuals feel when that certain time of day rolls around. All of a sudden, the remote turns into the watcher's magical wand as they gracefully lunge to the couch and perch upon their throne, giving commands to the television. Being involved in a life or a story that doesn't really exist has always struck me as peculiar. Anyways if you're looking for me on Monday nights, I'd try the gym or the library, because I will not be planted in front of the television.

Though I do understand the excitement of following a few T.V shows, it is strange to me how people schedule their entire weeks around when a certain episode, or episodes play.
The one show I watch faithfully is Lost, However, I know people who have at least 4 or 5 shows they must see every week, and if their routine is interrupted by any small thing, it is somewhat of a personal tragedy. It's sad how entertainment controls so much of our lives these days, and I agree that being at the gym or library is much more productive than placing ourselves in front of a television for countless hours.
Same as the other comment, I could argue for hours how television/film is an art & an important emotional aspect of most people's lives, however, the same goes for my dorm on Monday nights... every single girl, except for me, is totally zoned into gossip girl, one tree hill, blah blah blah, for the majority of the night. It's impossible to get any work accomplished between the hours of like 7-10PM because you can hear all of the TV's blasting "XO XO, Gossip Girl" all down the hall.
